So the various holidays are coming and that means, if your OCD symptoms are cranking up don't be alarmed. Really. This happens almost yearly with me. Although it's getting better the more I bend with the changes of weather, daylight savings time and especially holidays and family. All of those are stressors and can rev up OCD. So, here's what I do:

1. Take everything as it comes.

2. live in each moment, mindfulness.

3. Lean hard on our support groups and friends that "get it".

4. Brush off all the judgement, criticism, rolling eyes, nasty looks from those that don't "get it",

5. Stay as structured as you can with the changes (eat right, exercise, breathe and know anxiety will always pass even if you do nothing)

6. Keep this slogan in mind; "The lower the expectations the higher the serenity",

7. Help someone else struggling with OCD to benefit them and you too.

And one more...

8. Know I'm here to help you too. JC <3

Checking is one of the most come compulsions with OCD suffers. I know I've had my share of going back to check stoves, switches, anything on the ground, etc, etc, etc. It's so frustrating because we know we don't have to check but our brains click into doubt mode. And that doubt is so strong it can put us in a compulsive loop. There is a three step method to break the loop. It all takes practice but it does work. It has for me and I continue to practice it daily. Here's my OCD Coaching Video on "How to Turn off A Stove" #ocdcoachingvideos JC <3 Just click on my weird face expression to watch 🙂
